Individuals or companies which are engaged in the trade of original pictures, artists' prints or reproductions, picture framing, restoration, artists' materials and related services
are eligible for full membership. Suppliers of goods and services
to the art and framing industries are eligible for membership.
Subscriptions are renewable annually from the date of election.
Applications and references are presented to the Court (the Guild's
Board of Directors) for consideration and election. This procedure
takes approximately four weeks to complete.
Fine art printers are required, at their own expense, to submit a print for testing to a UKAS
accredited laboratory for a pH and lighfastness test, minimum weight of paper 250gsm to prove that they can print
to Guild standards, and annually thereafter.
Framer members must commit to take the GCF test within the first
year of membership.
Companies elected into membership will be provided with a New
Members' Pack which will include information on Guild services,
publications and Guild insignia for promotional purposes.
Details of members' businesses appear in Guild publications and
are supplied for information to other members upon request. The membership
details are not for sale to third parties. Please notify the Membership
Manager if you do not want your company details being made available
to third parties.
Members are required to abide by the Guild's Memorandum and Articles
of Association and Code of Ethics. The Guild is company limited
by guarantee. Members are guarantors, whose liability is limited
to £1.
