Whether you are taking up Picture Framing as
your main occupation or as a paying hobby, it is important to understand
that the materials and techniques you use will affect the work you are framing.
They matter. Training to develop your skills and knowledge is an important
investment. Continuous learning keeps a framer abreast of important developments
in the industry. All Guild member trainers are or have been practising framers
with high levels of experience, who will have valuable hints and insight
to pass on. Choose between Introductory Courses for Professional Framers
(the best will have a Guild Approved Syllabus) and more advanced courses,
between one-to-one training and group sessions, between courses lasting
a few hours and those lasting a few days.
All framers should aspire to gain the Guild Commended
Framer qualification to demonstrate independently that they have the
necessary skills and knowledge to provide a professional framing service.
Training Courses to prepare you for the GCF Test are available. For self-preparation
and to support your training programme, buy the GCF Study
Guide, an excellent workshop manual in its own right.
