Guild standards have been developed by and for the industry, and are designed to protect consumers' art as well as providing clear guidelines for manufacturers, framers, publishers and fine art printers. The Guild Print Standards and Print Registration scheme, governing edition size, print quality and durability, have been industry benchmarks for over a century. Our standards for framing and framing products, such as mountboard and tape, enable framers and their customers to trade with confidence.
If you're thinking of setting up as a professional artist, gallery or picture framer the Fine Art Trade Guild can help. The Guild draws upon the accumulated knowledge of 100 years of supporting the art and framing industry and pools this with feedback and information from its members to provide the very best guidance for those entering this industry.
The Guild Commended Framer qualification is recognised worldwide as the prime qualification for picture framers, giving framers the opportunity to validate their skills and demonstrate advanced skills in specialist techniques, such as textile framing and mount design.
In 2009 the US based FACTS (Fine Art Care and Treatments Standards) organisation folded, and its directors placed its standards and materials in the Guild's safe hands. Our Artfacts pages host huge amounts of information on a variety of framing subjects; do browse them or use the site search to find specifics.
